Volkswagen is overhauling its U.S. operations, moving its headquarters from suburban Detroit to near Washington, cutting 400 jobs and considering production in the United States.
VW said it also will develop products specifically for the United States, change the positioning of its brand and realign its dealer network.
VW said it is looking at building cars in the United States "to reduce dependence on exchange rates," Volkswagen of America CEO Stefan Jacoby said in the press release.
